This page explains what we do with the information you give us and with the information your browser leaves behind when you visit this site. It describes what actually happens today, not what a template says usually happens.
1. Who is responsible for your data
THE ROAD LESS TRAVELED CUISINE SRL, corporate ID 3-102-873612, Playa Potrero, Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
For anything on this page, write to [email protected]. That address reaches a person, not a queue.
2. What we collect, and why
2.1 When you send the enquiry form
The form asks for the least we need to answer you with a proposed menu and a full price without having to write back with questions:
- The experience you are interested in, how many people, the date or the month you are aiming for, and the area where it would happen.
- Dietary restrictions in the group, if you choose to tell us. That includes allergies, which you write in your own words, and whether the menu needs to be kosher.
- Whether there are children in the group, and their ages, if you tell us.
- Your name and email. A phone number, only if you want to give one: it is never required.
- Anything you write in the free note.
Why: to answer your enquiry, prepare your quote and, if you go ahead, organise the event. On what basis: because you asked us to, and because these are the steps needed before a possible contract between you and us. We do not use the form to send you marketing.
About the dietary questions. An allergy is health information and a kosher menu can say something about your beliefs. We ask because we cook the food, and a menu built around an allergy is the whole point. Those fields are optional, we only keep what you write, and if you would rather tell us in a call, leave them blank.
2.2 When you just read the site
We do not ask you for anything. Our hosting provider and Cloudflare keep server logs with your IP address, your browser and the time of the request, which is what keeps the site up and blocks abuse.
One thing worth saying plainly: the enquiry form does not store your IP address. It is deliberately cleared from the entry before it is saved.
3. Cookies and what runs in your browser
Checked page by page on 23 August 2026, this is everything the site puts in your browser and everyone it talks to.
3.1 Cookies this site sets
| pll_language | Remembers whether you are reading in English or Spanish. Set by this site, not by anyone else. It expires about a year after your visit. |
|---|
That is the only cookie we found. The site also leaves one technical value in your browser session,
wpEmojiSettingsSupports, which WordPress uses to check whether your browser can draw emoji.
It disappears when you close the tab.
3.2 Services that run on the pages
- Cloudflare. Every page of this site is served through Cloudflare, so Cloudflare sees the request before we do. Cloudflare Web Analytics also runs on every page and gives us page counts without setting cookies and without following you to other sites.
- YouTube, in privacy enhanced mode. Pages that carry a video embed it from
youtube-nocookie.com. Nothing is stored on your device until you press play. Once the player loads, Google receives your IP address and the technical data the player needs, and it also pulls images and a font from Google servers.
There are no advertising cookies, no cross site tracking pixels and no social network buttons that load anything from a social network.
3.3 One thing that is configured but not running
Google Analytics 4 is set up in the site administration, but on 23 August 2026 its tag was not being served on any public page and we saw no request to Google Analytics and no Analytics cookies. If it is switched on, this page will be updated before that happens.
4. Who else handles your information
These are the companies that can see your data because we use them to run the business. We name them because you deserve to know where your information travels.
| Nexcess (Liquid Web) | Hosting for this website and its database, where the form entries are stored. United States. |
|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Delivers and protects the site, and provides the page count analytics described above. |
| Brevo | Sends the two emails the form produces: our copy and yours. |
| Google Workspace | Our mailbox. The full content of your enquiry arrives there. |
| Dropbox | Where the site backups are stored. A backup is a copy of the whole database, so it includes form entries until that backup is rotated out. |
| Pipedrive | Our sales system. Today it receives the entries from the older contact forms on this site. Servers in the European Union. |
| YouTube (Google) | Only if you play a video, as described above. |
If you write to us on WhatsApp instead of using the form, that conversation lives on WhatsApp, under Meta's own terms, and it is a choice you make each time you tap the button.
We do not sell your information and we do not hand it to anyone for their own marketing.
5. How long we keep it
| Enquiries that did not become an event | 24 months from your last message. |
|---|---|
| Clients with an event | 5 years from the date of the event, which covers our accounting and tax obligations. |
| The copy stored on this website | 12 months, deleted automatically. Your enquiry already lives in our mailbox and in our sales system, and the website database is the most exposed of the three, so it is the copy we keep for the shortest time. |
| Site analytics | 14 months. |
6. Your rights
You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it. Write to [email protected] and tell us what you want. We answer in writing, and we will not ask you for more information than we need to know it is really you.
If we have an active event with you, some records have to stay for the accounting periods above even if you ask us to delete the rest.
7. How we look after it
The site runs over HTTPS, sits behind Cloudflare, and the administration area is protected against repeated login attempts. Access to the form entries and to the mailbox is limited to the people who answer enquiries and cook the food.
8. Children
This site is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you tell us there will be children at the table, we keep the number and ages you write, and we use them to build the menu and to apply the discount for ages 8 to 14.
9. Changes to this page
If what we do changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves. If the change is significant and we have your email because of an open enquiry, we will tell you.
Questions about any of this go to [email protected].
